Shelter Spotlight on JOHN aka SHORTY! |
Hi! My name is John and I have a story to tell. I was left at the shelter one morning. They just left me in the driveway with just a bowl of water. My story is very sad, but I just know someone out there is going to give it a happy ending. Some nice people here at Second Chance found me in the driveway. My tail was very painful. It was badly injured and the bone was sticking out. My foot was also injured. So, they had to do surgery to fix the bone so it wouldn’t hurt so bad. Unfortunately, they had to amputate some of my tail. I couldn’t tell them how it was hurt, or who left me here, and how scared I was. They told me that since they don't know how I was hurt, or the last time I visited the vet, I will have to stay here for six months while I recover. That's a long time I know, and it makes me sad. It is not fair that I was left here and that the people here have to keep me here for 6 months because they don't know when my last rabies shot was. I know I have had one because I had one when I was neutered and my ear was tipped. They tell me that means that I had this done at a feral clinic some time ago. But, I am not feral, I love people and I love to be cuddled and held.
At least during my six months quarantine, I will have time for my wounds to heal, including my tail, and time to trust again. They tell me that it will cost the shelter a lot of money for the surgery and to keep me here for all that time. But that is where you can come into the story. I hope you will help the people at Second Chance by giving a donation for my care. I am so thankful that they took me in because I know that others had given up on me and now I am feeling much better. I am not in pain anymore and my tail is healing.
If you would like to help, please use the paypal button below or you can mail a donation to the shelter. I will be available for adoption just before Christmas. If you would like to adopt me and can wait for the holiday time to give me a home of my own, please put in an adoption application. I will be here waiting for you if you are willing to wait for me. That would be my Christmas wish and a happy ending to my story. I really am just a big softy, I love the attention I get, and once I'm all better I will be playful again as well. I have already made some new friends here, and I promise that when I get to my new home I will bring all the appreciation and joy with me.
